Coonoor



Coonoor is a small taluka in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, India. Located at an altitude of 1850 m it is the second largest hill station in the Nilgiris. The hill station is well known for various trekking expeditions and sightseeing. The place is also well known for having all kind of people living together and it is due to the Madras regiments of Indian army residencies, Defence services staff College in the Wellington Containment, Tourists and Boarding Schools. The main source of income in the city is from tourists and Tea Industries.


Tea and Tourism:


Tea plantation and selling of tea’s is the most prominent occupation of Coonoor. Tea plantation is done around the hilly areas of the township. The production is done on a massive scale and these areas are owned by various private sector owners. Packaging and selling of the tea is done from the factory throughout India. Most of the population works in those industries, remaining are involved in the business of tourism and hotels.




Coonoor is a popular hill station and it sees a number of tourists round the year specially in summer. A religious trip to Nashik

This year we planned to visit religious places and Nashik is a popular holy land and number of temples and sacred places are located here. Nashik is located in Indian state of Maharashtra and it is third largest city in the state after Mumbai and Pune. The city is famous for the temple of Trimbakeshwar that houses one of the Shiva Linga from twelve Shiva Lingas in India. Many tourists come here every year some to spend their holidays and some to seek the blessings from the Lord.


The city is popularly known as the holy land as it houses many sacred places and Panchavati is one of them which is a religious spot located in the city. Panchavati is a place in the forest of Dandakaranya, where Rama built his home along with his wife Sita and brother Laxmana during their period of exile. At this place today, we can find five trees marked, one of which is an Ashoka tree and there is also a cave called as Sita cave it is said that Lord Rama, Sita and Laxmana prayed here in this cave. Panchavati has many temples such as Kalaram Temple, Goraram Temple, Sita Gupha and many more. Many religious festivals are celebrated here and this time many thousands of devotees attend the celebration here.
